Evanescence - My Immortal Lyrics

I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all of my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
Because your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me

You used to captivate me
By your resonating light
But now I'm bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me

These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me
I've been alone all along

This is a beautiful song, and I love the video even more!

I like the video version more because there they use the hard guitars and drums at the end, the album version is just soft from beginning to end... :(

This is a great song. Obviously whoever wrote this song was feeling really passionate about someone who they had lost forver. Whoever wrote this song should be considered the greatest poet since Shakespear and whoever doesn't realize that doesn't even deserve to listen to the music. I dedicate this song to everyone who has ever lost someone that was close to them.

lol, i think it was the drummer that wrote the song wasnt it? the one that left the band? i know it was either him or the guy who plays the piano in the video, but ya this song kicks out pretty hardcore, its awesome, it almost makes ya cry eh?

In October my happy well balanced 25 year old son developed paranoid delusional disorder & committed suicide after only a few weeks. I had him when I was 15 & we grew up together. He was my best friend, my soul. EVERY word of this song speaks to me. I wiped his tears, I held his hand thorugh his fears, I still feel him here with me & it is so painful. I sometimes feel so alone & I tend to bottle things up. When I hear this song it is like a release valve. The tears flow. I feel the gaping hole in my heart & my soul. It helps me to remember those precious times when he was a child & the love we shared. I have to grieve before I can heal. This haunting & beautiful song helps me do that.

The piano part that goes with these amazing lyrics is really simple. Simplicity makes this song special. That and its great to sing, cause everyone can relate.
