A masterpiece from start to finish, 'Aenima' does not dissapoint. It's 77 minutes, as stated before, but never has an album felt shorter. The riffs and drums mix together so perfectly, it's indescribable. Complex; musically and lyrically, it never gets old.
Often times, Tool will start with one instrument playing, like the bassline in "46 & 2", and then slowly build with drums, guitars, and vocals. The vocals themselves go from whispering, singing, to absolute perfect screaming. And never do they switch at the wrong time.
I couldn't really pick a "favorite" track. If you get the album, you know what I'm talking about. The album isn't really meant to hear just 3 or 4 songs; it's really meant to be heard in one sitting, all at once. Even the non-instrumental tracks add to the album.
Tool doesn't sound particularily like any other band, so it's hard to reccommend to people who haven't heard them before. Personally, I would reccommend Tool to people who like Nine Inch Nails, Stabbing Westward, or really any people who are into Metal/Industrial. |
