In my opinion, this CD is the best release by The Ataris yet. There is not a single song on this album that I do not like. In fact, I love most of the songs! The best part of the better songs is the way they sound live. If you want the full effect of the music, definatly go to an Ataris show.
The album starts off with a fast, with songs like Giving Up On Love, and Summer Wind before my personal favourite track, I.O.U. One Galaxy. Lyrically, this song is not amazing, but the emotion Kris Roe puts into his singing really makes the song. I quite often find myself humming the infectious lead guitar part to myself. This is a great song for couples. End Is Forever keeps up its fast pace until Fast Times At Dropout High. Another very emotional song for Roe, where he speaks about his own past. Also features a clip from "Good Will Hunting" before an amazing outro. The commercial hit from this CD was Teenage Riot. A nice rock tune, but lyrically has little substance...not The Ataris best work, but commercially friendly. The hardest song on the album by far is Song #13. Roe screams out the lyrics for the verse and slows down the song for the gentler chorus.
In all, this album consists of approx. 40 minutes of rock music that, if you're like me, you'll virtually always listen to start to finish. I would recommend this cd to any Ataris fan, or anyone even considering buying an Ataris cd. This cd is a great place to start. I'd honestly recommend it to anyone who likes the 'punk rock' genre. |
