After hearing rumours of the band's break-up, which turned out to simply be band members who had left being replaced by Fred Mascherino (Guitar/Vocals) and Matt Rubano (Bass), I was unsure of what to expect from the band's second CD, Where You Want To Be. With John Nolan leaving the band, one of the best characteristics, trademark even, of Taking Back Sunday was their ability to sing different lines simultaniously, with two distinct voices, and make it sound incredibe.

With the uncertainty of how the new TBS would compare to the Tell All Your Friends era TBS, and a diminishing bank account, I decided to reserve judgement on whether or not to buy WYWTB until after Warped Tour. As one of the heading bands, and the band I looked forward to seeing most I quickly made my way to the main stage where they were performing. I was amazed at how the band sounded. It was an incredible, energetic performance featuring songs new and old. It was with this performance that I realized what was truly important. The band had not lost its overall feel, or sound. It was still distinctly recognizable as Taking Back Sunday. Secondly, the songs sound great live.

As for the CD itself, the CD starts off with a fast tempo track called Set Phasers To Stun. The vocals are excellent on this track, both singers did very well here. The next song of note is A Decade Under The Influence, the first single from the CD. This is my personal favorite track. The vocals once again excel for this song, and are accompanied by a catchy tune. Throwing you off half way through the CD is New American Classic. This song notably sets itself apart from the others as it is performed acousticly. For many bands this would take away from an albums overall feel. The song however works on the CD, as it provides a softer break from 'harder' songs, while still providing a decent melody, and showing the singers abilities to do softer songs. For me, the last song of note is Number Five With A Bullet. Creative lyrics, as well as a catchy tune and beat.

Overall, the CD is not as good as TBS' earlier release. However, it is by no means a shameful effort. With 3 or more solid songs, it is still a very good CD. Sadly, the vocals of John Nolan are noticably missed. However; Fred should make a very good backup vocalist, as the harmonies between he and Adam are amazing at times. While the CD is, in my opinion, easily purchase worthy, I await the release of the next album.
