The first System Of A Down songs that I heard were Bounce and F*ck The System, and I thought "what stupid noise is that?"
Then I heard Chop Suey!, and I thought "cool, they can combine noise with very melodic parts!"
But the song that finally convinced me to buy the album Toxicity was the title song, which I had seen on MTV. And I didn't regret the buy! (actually I bought the album twice, because my first cd got stolen with my discman in vacation...)

I think Toxicity is the album that I heard most often in my life. SOAD really perfected the mixture of very hard and noisy metal parts with very melodic parts, often switching all of a sudden from one to the other (Chop Suey! is the best example for that). Some of the songs on the album could be labeled "fillers" (i>Jet Pilot, X, Bounce, Shimmy), but still I never use the skip button because they fit into the whole album. And all the other songs are just great! Prison Song and Deer Dance are very hard and with political messages, Needles is also very hard in the beginning but then switches to a lovely duet of singer Serj Tankian and guitarist Daron Malakian.
Especially Tankian's voice is very important for the music, because it's so variable. He's a great singer, as he proves in the "ballads" ATWA and Aerials and also the chorus of Chop Suey!, but just a few seconds later he shouts and screams like a maniac, incredible!

So, what can I say: Buy this album, you won't regret it! And let's hope they come up with something new soon :)
