This is an album I simply love. From the way the album starts off with Burnout, an excellent track, to the was Chump transitions into Longview so perfectly, to a great, fun hidden track called All By Myself. This is one of few albums that I don't skip any tracks on.
This album mixes it up a little, with slower tracks such as Pulling Teeth, to faster tracks like F.O.D. and In The End. Then there are tracks like She Basket Case (my favourite song on the CD by far) which change tempo throughout. The lyrics, while they may not always be well written, are always fun. You get a certain feeling from listening to the CD, you get the feeling the band is having a great time recording, and it comes off with a great sound.
This is just a great CD in my opinion. It's a good look back at Green Day (CD released in 1994) to see how they have evolved musically, and lyrically since then. The fact that 10 years later they have released a new album (American Idiot) in itself speaks for how good this band is.
This is a must have CD for Green Day fans. |
