This album is the first story album for Green Day. It follows a part in the life of a man known as "Jesus of Suberbia." There are a couple songs not related to the story (for example: American Idiot, or Wake Me Up When September Ends). The album also features 2 songs over 9 minutes each. Jesus of Suberbia and Homecoming were written in sections by the different members of the band.

The story, in short, follows Jesus of Suburbia as he leaves his home. Along the way he meets up with a man known as St. Jimmy who helps him out. Jesus of Suburbia then meets a girl (She's A Rebel) and must choose his path, to follow love, or to not.

Interesting note: This was not the album Green Day intended to release. They had a number of songs ready to go for another album, however; they were stolen. Understandably disappointed, the band went back to writing songs and came up with the first single, American Idiot, to set the bar for the new album.

This is not a typical Green Day release. It does have many of the same qualities from earlier albums, such as Dookie, but remains different. Green Day has done the best thing they could have done with this album. They didn't repeat themselves. Too many bands now release the same kind of cd time and time again. If you're tired of the same kind of songs over and over and are looking for a change in punk rock, or Green Day, get this cd.
