| Biography |
X is Loaded are Jake Robertson (Vocals/Guitar) Alex Martino (Guitar) Alex Cole (Bass)
and Jamie O'Gorman (drums)
Like a conquering army, marching from the Roman ruins of the historic UK city of Bath, X Is Loaded have arrived, wielding an arsenal of adrenaline rush guitar pop songs, rocket-fuelled energy and determination. Revealing their "Raw Nerve", this is X Is Loaded.
Describing the band members as "totally unemployable," vocalist and guitarist Jake Robertson accounts the union of himself and Martino (guitar) to having bad haircuts. "We met in junior school," explains Jake, "we didn't find it easy to fit in due to our diverse and sometimes weird taste in all things music, but mainly because no-one wanted to hang with the kids with the bad haircuts." Naturally, an immediate bond was formed between the two.
Bassist Al Cole had no option but to join the band after Martino was repeatedly mistaken for Al at the legendary Bath Moles club, where they eventually met each other when trying to hook up with the same girl! The line-up was completed 3 years ago when an irritable and very late Jake Robertson shouted "I hope you can drum better than you can fucking drive!" at Jamie O'Gorman, who'd just arrived at the same studio and smashed up his car in a fight for the last parking space. It was destiny!
On the brink of their debut release for Music For Nations, who signed the band in Spring 2003, X Is Loaded have come a long way since they made their first demo. Suitably embarrassed by the home recordings, the band admits, "we didn't even have any finished songs, luckily only we know where the tapes are." X Is Loaded released a one off single entitled 'Massive Misguidance' on the Boss Music label early in 2003. The track shot straight onto the play-list at MTV2 and XFM, and the band have since built a fan base with solid touring, supporting the likes of Hell Is For Heroes, Biffy Clyro, Easyworld, Oceansize and InMe. One of these live shows even prompted Kerrang! Magazine to state "...X Is Loaded frontman and guitarist Jake Robertson is a star."
With their debut release for Music For Nations, the double A-side single "Laugh, Point and Wave"/"The Start Of Everything", for which the video debuted on the Kerrang! TV chart at Number 1, X Is Loaded have made the first steps to reveal that "Raw Nerve".
Using their love of music and Guinness, past experiences and lyrical experimentation, X Is Loaded have created, with the production wizardry of Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Feeder), an album that is the missing link between rock and indie sensibilities. "Raw Nerve", due for release in Summer 2004, mixes harsh elements of guitars and crashing frenetic percussion with elegant, melodic song-writing. From beautiful ballads to fast-paced abrasive explosions, X Is Loaded expose their "Raw Nerve". |
