| Biography |
Formed in Dublin in 1999 by Paul Woods (vocals/guitar), Steve Bogan (drums) and Gary Murray (bass) a collection of early demos was released as an album. ‘Hey Jack You're Late’ reached #7 in the Irish Tower Records charts, and struck a chord with young punk rock fans around Ireland. The band recruited second guitarist Justin Byrne in 2003, a move that signalled the move in a more mature songwriting direction.
"Justin's addition really strengthened our sound in a live setting, and he added some great ideas into the songwriting process," says frontman Paul. "The result is that our new album is more dynamic, and incorporates more melodies. We've drifted from the straight-up punk rock time signatures and rhythms, but all the intensity is still there. I think our fans will recognise how much we've developed as a band."
The Last Laugh is a collection of 12 songs that underlines why ONOFF have such great potential; the band show that they have added many strings to their bow, dabbling in no-frills hooks that entice you sing along as well as emotive lyrics and twisting melodies. |
